Workshops/Tutorials

We invite you to submit proposals for workshops, tutorials and special sessions to augment the main conference programme of FPT 2021.

Please send your questions and proposals to Julian Oppermann.

Below are the details on the different formats, and which information you should include in your proposal.

Workshops

Workshops take place on December 6 and 7, in advance of the main conference, and should encourage the exchange and the discussion of past experiences, present work-in-progress and future ideas among researchers, vendors, educators, and existing and new users of field-programmable technology.

Please include the following information in your proposal:

  • Title of workshop,
  • A short description of the workshop’s topic, why it is relevant and interesting to the FPT community, and how it complements the main conference,
  • Desired length (half day / full day),
  • Planned format (papers, posters, invited talks, round-tables, etc.). If required, organisers should arrange a peer-review process and publication of proceedings independently of FPT,
  • Organisers’ short bios, affiliations, and their expertise in the workshop’s topic,
  • Expected number of participants,
  • Plans to accommodate either an in-person, hybrid, or virtual setting.

Tutorials

Tutorials also take place on December 6 and 7, and should provide practical, in-depth introductions to novel, state-of-the-art tools and technologies of interest to the FPT community.

Please include the following information in your proposal:

  • Title of the tutorial,
  • An outline of the topics covered in the tutorial,
  • Desired length (half day / full day),
  • Planned format (lecture, hands-on labs, etc.),
  • Organisers’ short bios, affiliations, and their expertise in the tutorial’s topic,
  • Expected (and maximum, if applicable) number of participants,
  • Plans to accommodate either an in-person, hybrid, or virtual setting. In particular, do participants need access to a specific piece of hardware, licences, complicated software setup, etc.)?
  • References to/recordings of prior runs of the same (or similar) tutorial, if applicable.

Special sessions

Special sessions will become part of the main conference programme, and should focus on a specific, hot or emerging topic that is of high interested to the FPT community, but not yet covered by the regular technical sessions. While individual papers (if any) presented during the special session will not be included in FPT’s proceedings, organisers are welcome to summarise the session in a single paper (up to 8 pages).

Please include the following information in your proposal:

  • Title of the special session,
  • A short description of the special session’s topic, why is it hot, and how it enhances the main conference,
  • Planned format (invited talks/papers, panel discussions, etc.),
  • Organisers’ short bios, affiliations, and their expertise in the special session’s topic. If the organisers plan to invite additional speakers, please include their information as well,
  • Plans to accommodate either an in-person, hybrid, or virtual setting.
